TIME FLIES...

No kidding.. Time really flies.. In fact i think time flies faster than aeroplanes.. I still remember the time when I was still in Malaysia thinking of whether I should just leave my comfort zone and come to this small little island to persue something I've never dreamt of.. And boom! Here I am, after more than 2 months of intensive training in Singapore waiting for my graduation early next month.

Life here is really like the tagline of my blog-'Life is a ROLLER COASTER'. I've been through my ups (joy and fun) and downs (fear, loneliness and failure) here and trust me.. its not easy to go through it without your family right beside you. I've cried out of loneliness few times, missing my family and friends back in Klang.. wondering what on earth they are doing and wondering whether the decisions I've made so far are right or not.. Its funny how your brain and heart will start playing the 'game' when you are all so alone and got nothing else better to do. The best way to avoid these 'mind games' is to get yourself occupied with other things. In the beginning I find it really hard to get along with my batchmates.. I really dont know why but i think most probably its just my problem.. I always feel 'small' as they are better looking and much smarter bunch.. I really felt like I was the Ugly Duckling who has no chance to turn into a beautiful majestically elegant swan no matter when.. Since grooming day itself.. My confident level just went down hill till it crashes itself and thats when I really wanna give up everything and go back to mama..

Now.. I thank God for everything that happened.. Everything that I literally forced myself to finish it till this current time.. Looking back, I think I've accomplished alot.. Looking back, I'm quite proud of myself for coming this far.. Looking back, I think I'm still the ugly duckling but personally I'm a swan in mine and family's heart.. That should be sufficient to keep me going. I'm someone that get very used to pleasing people around me and everyday I have to remind myself, as long I'm happy, dont care about what other peope think.. Honestly, I'm still struggling with it...lol.. give me some time man.. I will improve..

I'm really sorry for not updating my blog after so long..I'm really occupied with alot of things.. Housework, laundry, training, exams, tv programmes...etc.. I will try to be more discipline k.. For those back in Malaysia.. I miss u all!!!

p/s: AMANDA.. ITS 11.51PM.. I STILL CAN WISH YOU HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY HERE.. I FELT BAD FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO BE THERE TO CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY BUT I'M SURE YOU LIKE THE GIFT I GAVE (WHICH U CHOSE) RIGHT? MAY ALL YOUR WISHES AND DREAMS COME TRUE.. CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE SO BIG D (PHYSICALLY AS WELL..HAHA) Always remember I'll always love you no matter what and will try to be there (thought can't be physically)for you whenever you need me!!! LOVE YOU and may God bless whatever you put your hands on... *MUAKZ MUAKZ*

Phew..

I've been trying my very best to enjoy my life here in Singapore and so far so good.. Other than the occasional lonely feeling that strikes me almost everyday.. Seriously, living here is not as bad as when I first reached here.. I know alot of you are so interested to know about how my training goes but during the 1st 2 days of the training itself, my rank trainer that's incharged of my bunch keeps emphasizing on the seriousness of blogging about SIA and what kind of actions we will get.. Anyway, here goes my statement..

*THE BELOW STATEMENT/ BLOG THAT IS WRITTEN BY THIS BLUR AURTHOR THAT SINCERELY ONLY WANTS TO UPDATE HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS ABOUT HER LONELY LIFE IN SINGAPORE HAS NO INTENTION TO LEAK OUT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT HER CURRENT EMPLOYER OR COMPANY. THE ENTRIES OF THIS BLOG ARE NOT OFFICIAL AND PURELY FOR PERSONAL CONSUMPTION AND LEISURE. IT IS STRICTLY NOT TO BE USED AGAINST THE AUTHOR HERSELF IN ANY LEGAL FORM.*

My training is really cramped up and jam packed to 2 and a half months which really tied us all down as we have to be in the training centre everyday (including saturdays) before 8.30 pm. In the beginning, it was really a struggle for me as most of you know, I'm really a night owl who can't sleep in the night and acts like a zombie in the morning. But after 1 week, it has become my routine. I look forward for sundays as that is the only day I can really rest and do the neccessary house chores or do some grocery shopping (yes.. Ms Pamela does grocery shopping herself once a while now to keep her stomach filled). The training will last the whole day and most of our nice trainers will only let us out after 5 as this is what the company wants. Mind you, I do not have the luxury of my tiny little Kelisa with me anymore and I have to wear heels to training centre by taking 2 buses.. My poor legs are so in pain right now due to over straining..Hahaha..

My 'classmates' are really interesting bunch as most of them are really crazy!!! Yes.. 'Siaw' like me.. and we are considered the noisiest bunch of all batches.. I really enjoyed their company and class becomes interesting because of their humour and craziness.. I really thank god for some of them that really stick by me and gave me loads of encouragement when I really thought of giving up.. The class is pretty small and cosy and there's only 17 of us in total.. 4 miserable guys (which I name them backstreet boys along with one of the trainer) and 13 girls.. Ranging from 18 to 26 years old. It feels like I'm back to college time and it feels kindda good to be learining something totally new.

Who says cabin crew is easy? It is confirmed not!!!! We have to act in so many roles in 1 when we are working.. According to one of the trainers, our job starts from the moment we go out of the house as we will be wearing the uniform in the future whenever we going to work! Whenever we are out, we are carrying the company's image and we must always uphold it!! When we are in the airport, we cannot neglect the people around us and must always smile.. then when we are on board, we are not just high class waitress only K.. we are toilet cleaner, chef, medical assistant, firefighter, usher, baby-sitter etc all rolled into 1.. It sounds pretty tiring.. hahaha..

Pictures of my crazy classmates will come out soon.. As u all know, I do not have a camera.. So, I will have to collect our cam-whore pics from my classmates.. They seriously love to cam-whore and FYI, I'm the ugliest of all gals.. After pilling on the heavy makeup on my face.. Trust me.. I'm not lying..

p/s: i miss malaysia food.. but singapore food is not as bad as what most of you have told me.. The fried hokkien mee here is quite good.. If any of u coming down, I will bring u guys around.. by public transport of course... lol

almost there..

In the beginning, the only thought in my brain for doing this was to try my luck and see how far I could go.. The self-doubt and the lack of confidence in me keeps playing mind trick with me.. But the crave of going out to the world and see how beautiful (and ugly) the world is was driving me crazy.. The chat with my sisters leads me from checking out the website to driving up with my best friend all the way to Ampang for the walk-in-interview. Sau Kin waited patiently outside as I went through stage by stage and witness myself other hopefuls being rejected or sent back.. Each stage I prayed with all my heart that God will help me go through and the interviewers will not be too harsh to me.
/
1st stage- 10 of us went in and faced 2 interviewers who were pretty stingy with their smiles..
We were asked to briefly introduce ourselves.. Sounds easy.. But clearly all 10 of us girls were nervous to the max.. I was the 4th to do it..
I stood up, gave the nicest smile I can give, greeted the 2 ladies and my fellow 'competitors', started with, 'My name is Pamela Soo and I am supposedly 23 this year....'
/
We walked out.. I briefly chatted with the hot Malay chick beside me who has the experience in this field and I am totally blown away with all her stories.. One of the lady came out, weakly smiled at us and called out 3 names before calling my name.. I thought I've failed but she said, '4 of you make it to the next round and the rest can go back. Thank you for coming.'
The Malay chick congratulated me and I gave her the warmest hug I could give before she leaves by saying, 'Told you that you can pass, they can't accept me maybe because I'm a malay and I'm quite old..' BTW, she's 28 this year..
/
2nd stage- 4 of us joined another group of girls and were asked to wear the company's uniform and cat-walked.. One by one, we walked from one end to the other before facing the lady who was holding a file while scrambling on the paper. Nervous, I walked as graciously as possible as the skirt was pretty tight making it harder to walk accompanied with the universal accessory- SMILE...
The lady knodded as I walk towards her..Asked some basic questions and told me to change back to my clothes..
/
We waited like 10 minutes outside the room and she called most of our names except for 2.. One of them have a tatoo at the back of her neck and the other has some scars on her arms.. They were sent back...
/
3rd stage- I walked in to the room as ordered and was greeted by a middle-aged big-sized man who is also quite stingy with his smile.. He asked me to sit on the chair which was placed in the middle of the room and was asked to introduce myself. He asked me many question but not as tricky as I expected.. Phew.. The butterflies in my stomach start dissapearing as he laughed at something I said intentionally to clear off the awkward atmosphere.. After 'chatting', he passed me a card and asked me to read the passage on the card aloud.. Then, I was asked to wait outside.. AGAIN..
/
I wait and waited while starting conversation with another girl who happens to be waiting for the result as well.. We were called again alongwith others and now, we proceeded to a hall and were told that we have to go for the final round.. We all smiled with relieve and started congratulating one another for going this far already..
i
4th Stage- After seeing some of the people being sent back home after the 4th stage, I doubt I will go through as most of them looked like they should be qualified for this job.. If they are rejected, then I will have no chance at all.. I went into the room after taking a deep breath and saw 2 middle-aged women sitting at the end of the room signalling me to sit down on the chair that was opposite them. They were friendly but the questions were pretty tricky..
i
My name was called.. My new friends wished me luck as I stood up and walked towards the woman who called my name..
'Pamela, CONGRATULATIONS.. You have passed the 4th round and I'm pleased to tell you that we would like to hire you into our company. So now, please go to the side there and fill up these forms so that we can make the arrangements for you.'
p
I looked back and gave a peace sign to my friends and they cheered.. I was so happy and all speechless.. Mummy called and I told her I got through!!!!! Mummy very happy and ordered me to come back for dinner so that we can celebrate.. haha..
o
Looking back, that happened more than 1 month ago.. Nothing much has changed yet except for me going all the way to KL (near Masjid Jamek) to have my medical check-up and also to renew my passport for the application of the working permit.. Due to my late submission of my passport, I am still waiting for the final confirmation from the company before I can resign and start doing the neccessary.. My friend has gotten her working permit and she's told to go there on July 14th and training will start on the 21st. I hope, I wish, and I pray that I will be placed on the same 'sem' as her so that I will not feel lonely when I go there to start my life anew..
o
Dear friends who bother to read my blog, if all things go accordingly, I will be flying off to Singapore to start my working life with SIA.. Yes.. Its Singapore International Airlines I'm talking about.. Obviously I'm not going to be a pilot.. but, believe it or not.. I might be a trained Air Hostess in less than 6 months time.. Hahaha.. I know some of you feel that SIA is making a mistake for accepting me.. like having the cacat weighing machine which under-weighed my fats or measuring my height wrongly and so on.. But I GOT IT!! YES!! I GOT IT!! So, whatever you say now will not affect me!!! *blek*
o
p/s: It's been a tough decision for me to decide whether I should just give up or go for it.. I really thank god for my family members and all my friends- especially Sau kin who waited patiently for me when I was jumping stage to stage and the 1st to flood me with all the advices and stuff.. To those that have been there listening to my fears again and again, all your advices and encouragement, I trully appreciate it.. I think I'm ready to leave my comfort zone and start my life in the kiasu land.. Now, i'm just waiting for SIA to call me to go.. Oh god.. be with me..
